Summer Of Color Weeks 4 And 5!

This week's color challenge was brown,
and this handsome couple pictured are my parents.

I titled this piece:
"September 19, 1959",
for reasons I am sure you can guess.

I printed my favorite wedding photo of my parents onto fabric,
layered bunches of vintage lace onto fabric,
(this photo shows a cloe-up of my cheater method of free-motion stitching)
and embellished with vintage buttons and millinery.

I am more than a week late with my Yellow project,
but here it is.

This piece is titled:
Ryan's Sunflower.
This is my favorite photo of my youngest,
circa 1995.

I used new fabric for the background,
layered vintage laces, trims and buttons,
and finished the piece with a big metal R for Ryan.
(I found the letter in a parking lot years ago,
probably fell off a car)

enJOY Your Blessings,
Kimberly

These are both SO GORGEOUS, Kimberly! Your parent's wedding photo is so sweet and happy and looks beautiful with the fabric and lace. And Ryan, what a cute picture and a happy 'yellow' artwork - love those sunflowers!

Ha! Well the first thing that struck me is how much I love the fact that you found a letter in a parking lot and kept it for some art someday . . . and here it has found a beautiful home! (& we are so much alike in that way ;) Your yellow piece is gorgeous and your brown piece of your parents is absolutely stunning! So elegant and timeless. What a wonderful tribute. Thank you for sharing these with us, xo

I really like these two pieces. The brown has a wonderful vintage feel that goes great with the photo. I like the way you use little bits of lace and buttons to embellish.
