Mixed Blessings

I must confess, that I threw myself a great big pity party this week.
The humidity was horrid,
the grass pollen unbearable,
 the air quality oppressive,
and I felt miserable,
but yesterday,
I was able to open up the whole house
and welcome in fresh air.

We went to a wonderful dinner with our dearest friends on Wednesday.
He has just completed chemo
for the second time in 6 years.
We were hoping that the worst would be over,
but it seems the doctor gave mixed news.
(I would so appreciate a prayer or two for him).
They were the kindest most thoughtful people before the cancer battle,
and they are the strongest and most inspirational since.
We have the best time with them, always.

My beloved Mr. was in a very frightening car accident on Friday.
He drives (drove) a Corvette convertible.
He was struck broadside on the drivers' side.
He is fine,
the car is not
(it's only stuff).

Finally, I love swapping,
and I pride myself on being a conscientious swapper,
this week I missed the deadline on a swap for the first time,
but I received another swap in the mail.
All of these beautiful images are of the perfectly beautiful heart
that I received from dear Dorthe.
We agreed to a private swap,
the only request I made was that
she include a small bit of drift wood in whatever she created for me.
I cannot thank you enough Dorthe.

I try not to get overly preachy about things here,
and I have never discussed my belief system before.
I am a Christian,
and all that implies,
I feel God's hand in my daily life,
and am grateful for that.

Looking back over the events of this past week,
I cannot help but beg of you
 to
enJOY Your Blessings,
Kimberly

Normally, I just enjoy being the proverbial "fly on the wall" as I click on to your blog and read/view the inspirational words and pieces you so beautifully present for all to see. Not so this Sunday. I've linked your posting to my FB account with a simple request for my dear friends to send up their prayers for "T." Together, we can work miracles. We have in the past, we can for such a sweet & kind man and his family. Yup, it is all just stuff (I can attest to that at least twice!) ---- Dorthe's heart is a thoughtful reminder of what is most important when we open up our hearts and minds: love for one another. As for my brother, not only do I thank our heavenly Father and the BAND of guardian angels who watch over him, but for you & the boys --- who gives him the inspiration, strength & determination to live a purpose-filled life and along with his faith carry him through the rough patches. For this and so many more reasons, I will love you always --- Janet

Hi Kim,
Sometimes we need pity parties to allow us time to grieve and purge. It's not leaving the party that leads to trouble!
Sorry to hear about all you've been going through.
I'm like you, I don't want to be "preachy" on my blog, while at the same time, when I need to give a "shout-out" to God, I find the blog to be a great way to do it. You never know, it may encourage someone else who's also going through hard times.
Prayers and Hugs from Bucks County,
Jill

The heart you received has put a lot of meaning into your post. It is good to have people aware there are concerns within our lives, We are here for each other, by kind words, thoughts and prayers.
Enjoy the fresh air, glad to know your hubby is ok and prayers for your beloved friend.
We all take too much for grantedin our everyday lifem, so many have it much worse, but keeping God in our lives and friends at our side, we can have hope for brighter tomorrows.
Joy to you this week.

Oh dearest Kim...what a time you have had...during times like these we need to keep our eyes on the heavens and our Hope in the Lord because he loves us so. Life is fragile and we need to hold those we love close each day and let them know this always.

Kimberly, Time well spent with dear friends is always a blessing, and when that time is tinged by illness, pain or sorrow it becomes, sometimes, more precious yet. Thank God your husband is fine! The beautiful heart that Dorthe sent seems to be just what was needed for you this week. Funny how that works! Blessings to you & yours. I'll put your concerns on my prayer list. - Amy B
