Me!
My assignment was to create a book from this adorable chipboard corset,
beautiful papers, and sweet embellishments
provided by Alpha Stamps
(a complete list of their products used appears at the end of this post).
I was given the freedom to use additional supplies from my own stash.
Here is how I did it:
I covered both front and back of the chipboard corset pieces in collage papers.
I lightly sanded the edges and finished the holes with eyelets.
I cut 2 corset shapes from scrapbook paper,
and folded each in half.
These became the inside pages of the finished book.
Treating each half as its own collage canvas,
I stamped, and glued images onto the papers.
For the back cover of the book,
I cut 1 corset from lightweight cardboard, and 2 from scrapbook paper.
Using a pedestal die cut, I cut the same 3 layers.
I glued the 3 layers of the pedestal together, the cardboard sandwiched between the papers.
I glued the top edge of the pedestal to the bottom of the cardboard corset,
then glued one paper corset to each side of the cardboard.
The front side was stamped and collaged,
and a length of pearl-drop trim was glued to the bottom edge.
I folded the two inner paper corsets in half,
laid the chipboard corset over each,
and punched the holes.
I then did the same to the back piece.
I inked around the edges of all pieces.
I used clothes pins to hold the layers together,
then laced cream seam binding through the holes,
and tied several bows to finish.
I trimmed the top and bottom of the front of the corset book with this sweet pink gingham ribbon.
I further embellished the book with charms and trinkets from my stash.
To allow the book to stand on its own,
I glued half of a pedestal die cut to the back of the base.
