Welcome to Day 1 of Spellbinders' A Gilded Life Summer Showcase & Giveaway.
I am honored to be a member of the 2014 design team featuring this exquisite line of bezels, dies and embossing plates.
The feminine old world charm captured in this line pairs beautifully with family heirlooms, such as this photo of my dear grandparents. A quick tutorial of how I created this new heirloom follows.
Wedding Day Picture Frame
Spellbinders A Gilded Life Supplies:
GL2-002 (silver) - Crowned Medallion (available here)
GLF-001 - Foil Pack (available here)
GLLD-004 - Petite Lace Long Die (available here)
other materials and supplies:
wood frame
decorative paper
German glass glitter
flat back pearls
mini rhinestones
small flat back stone
mother of pearl heart
craft glue
dimensional adhesive
grey solvent ink
sandpaper
scissors
cut and emboss 2 pieces of ivory colored foil
(quick tip: keep the tissue paper layer on the foil, your finished piece will pop right out of the die)
cover the front and sides of the wood frame with decorative paper, trim to fit;
lightly sand the edges and distress with grey ink
rub the grey solvent ink over the embossed foil (this will remove some of the finish from the raised areas, it gives a beautiful aged effect);
glue the embossed foil pieces to the face of the frame;
attach flat-back pearls along the foil pieces (leave the top center motif empty)
glue a generous amount of German glass glitter to the inside edge of the frame opening
glue mini rhinestones and a flat-back stone to the crown section of the medallion;
fill the bezel halfway with dimensional adhesive, fill with German glass glitter, allow to dry;
glue a mother of pearl heart charm to the center of the bezel, top with a mini rhinestone;
glue the assemblage to the center top of the frame
