Fabric And Lace Journal - Part 5 - The Finished Journal

Layers and layers of lace
grace the front cover.

A simple seam binding ribbon is wrapped around the book spine,
and fastened with vintage shank buttons.

This is how the buttons are tied on the inside of the journal.

An antique photo card peeks out from the pocket
on the inside front cover.

Millinery, ribbons, buttons and lace
embellish another sweet face
from Paper Whimsy.

The lace page insert was featured in yesterday's
tips and tricks.
I have used permanent ink to stamp onto the linen,
and then embellished using bits of floral laces.
The crochet pansies are my favorite.

The center of the journal has been simply decorated
with a piece of vintage lace
and beautiful old buttons.

A genuine antique frozen Charlotte doll
peeks out of another sewn pocket.

A rhinestone belt buckle is used as a picture frame,
and vintage flowers complete this page.

The back of the journal is simply covered with
a vintage lace runner.

The book is opened flat,
in order to view the front and back covers at once.

Please leave any questions regarding

I will leave my reply in the comment section as well.

Next week,
I will be showing two other simple binding techniques.
(I am all about simple construction)

Thank you so much for the tutorials. You are a class act. A lot of artists don't like to share how they do things.

To you this may all be simple!! To me it is all Latin, or Greek....lol!

I don't know about the spine. Seam binding and attaching, I think duct tape might be easier.....hahahaha

I will keep trying.

Happy Crafting

Heh Kimberly - I worked on my journal over my holiday and just discovered your tutorial when I got back! I am going to compare how you did yours to how I did mine - I am sure I will learn a few things I could have done better....I am at the point now I need to attach my lovely Fabric of Nature ATCs and do some final embellishing so I can share with everyone...Thanks again for your email - it took me in a different direction which I like much better!
