Farmhouse Kit - Making Embellishments

I am still working with my mock Farmhouse kit.

Since this is a kit that I put together myself

with bits from around my studio,

there were no cute ephemera collections to use.

So what to do?

Make some!

I purchased this adorable layering stamp set

to use for kids' cards.

I realized, horses are on farms, well duh.

I created this trio of embellishments

with scraps of paper, bling, flowers and trims from my kit;

as well as, the stamped horses.

Thrifty Thursday

I am trying my best to keep to a self-imposed spending freeze 

and use the products in my stash,

but the craft and hobby manufacturers are fighting me every step of the way.

I love all of the modern farmhouse inspired paper collections out there now,

and have come close to clicking the purchase button quite a few times.

I took a close look at some of those collections

and thought that I might be able to put something comparable together from supplies I already have.

So I gathered papers,

stamps,

washi,

ribbon and trims,

and a load of bits.

It feels great to keep my frugal promise to myself in this way.

I have already been creating with this "kit,"

and will be sharing some of my finished projects over the next few weeks.

I admit that I may have more crafty goods than the average bear,

but I hope that no matter how large or small your stash is,

this little journey can help inspire you to do the same.

Stash To Treasure Saturday

Welcome to

Stash To Treasure Saturday,

where some sad, forgotten,

and unloved bits and pieces 

are given a beauty makeover

and a new life.

This week's abandoned hidden treasure

comes from a Goodwill score.

I purchased 2 dozen wood frames

which had been used as table markers

and then donated to the store.

It took a good sanding to prep the frame for paint.

I used black chalk paint,

followed by a light dry brush application of white chalk paint.

I added paper and a gingham ribbon to complete.
