12 Months Of Christmas - January 25th

I am sure many of you are thinking

"REALLY!?!?"

It feels like we just did the whole Christmas thing.

It seems that lovely time of the year goes at the speed of light,

and my creative spirit feels let down when it's over.

So why not make 2019 the year

 to carve out one day each month to play with my Christmas craft stash?

I can't think of any good reason not to.

The plan is to share on the 25th every month.

I may actually get my cards made before December 20th this year.

Stash To Treasure Saturday - #2

Welcome to week 2 of

STASH TO TREASURE SATURDAY!

Each week I take some long-neglected item(s) from my stash

and create something new.

I know we all have those items,

the color is not now,

the style is so 2000s,

the theme is no longer relevant.

I am going to try my best to take those items and breathe new life into them.

Today I am sharing some vintage crochet pansies.

I have lost count of how many of these lovely pansy-edged doilies 

have made their way home with me over the years.

I coffee dyed this one a while back,

used a few of the sweet flowers,

but these tattered remains have sat for quite some time.

By adding vintage stamens and velvet leaves

what was once old,

is new again.

First Craft Project Of 2018

There are a number of curated vintage inspiration kits

available at artJOYstuff.etsy.com

This journal was created using items very much like those found in the kits. 

The current kits come with an antique photo card (cabinet card),

antique photo mat,  vintage ribbons/laces/trims,  vintage jewelry/buttons/buckles,

vintage wallpaper, vintage millinery...

Each kit is unique.

Detailed photos and list of materials 

can be found with each listing.

The antique photo card included in the kit can be copied for limitless uses.

The addition of paper and seam binding to some of the materials from a kit

was all that was needed to create this little journal.

Regular typing/printer paper was coffee dyed for an aged effect.

I think I will be "junking-up" these pages 

with vintage ephemera, laces and stamping,

before listing it for sale.

Lazy Days Of Summer...Not Quite

I am at it again,

cleaning and purging,

sorting and purging,

purging and purging.

This time,

it is some of my vintage lovelies.

 These Hazel Atlas white crinoline dishes were just listed,

as was this vintage Ball jar filled with

scrumptious vintage silk thread,

 and this service for 6 

milk glass luncheon set.

My 4 sets of vintage

Hazel Atlas blue crinoline sold almost as quickly as I pushed the publish key.

I will probably regret selling these,

but they are in such beautiful condition,

that I hated using them.

Maybe their new owner will not be quite so ridiculous.

Vintage Made New

I have been having fun creating new things 

with some beautiful old things.

I found a group of vintage beaded flowers

last summer. 

They were in need of some love and attention. 

I took a few of them apart

and re-imagined them into something new.

Each has been given a vintage rhinestone button

and circle of vintage lace for a center,

and a set of beautiful chocolate brown velvet leaves.

This is how they looked when they entered my life.

A bit dated,

I am guessing circa 1970?

I like to think I have improved them,

but now, what to do with all those beaded leaves and centers?

That's a project for another day.

Be Inspired

 

 

I have been working on 

Christmas and Winter themed Inspiration Kits.

 

I have a difficult time letting go sometimes.

Many of these items have been greedily kept for years.

(insert visual of Gollum with his Precious :0)

 

Playing with these treasures and arranging these kits

makes it is a bit easier to let go of my Preciouses.

 

I only hope that they all find good new homes,

where they will continue to inspire.

A Trinket Trove!

This is what I was up to in the studio yesterday.

I was busy creating these vintage trinkets.

I even took out my soldering supplies,

to make these little charmers.

Genuine vintage pieces,

re-invented, re-imagined.

A few items were perfect on thier own.

After playing in boxes of vintage treasure,

and creating a trove of trinkets,

I tied each to tags

I made from paper bits in my scrap pile.

I am still enJOYing the little things in life,

Whimsy Jar Swap From Kathy!
